We are ETC Consulting

ETC Consulting, formerly ETC East Africa (ETC-EA) is a regional consultancy organization in development programmes. It was established in 1989, when it was called ETC Kenya Consultants, with its main office in Nairobi.

Initially the Company operated as a branch office of the ETC International Group (established in 1974) based in the Netherlands, but since August 1 2001, it became a fully-fledged Kenyan Company while retaining the International networks.

ETC Consulting is a market oriented, business like private sector organization, mainly supporting development programmes for the public, civil society, and in recent years, private sector organizations.

Oct 2012 – March 2013: A survey in Rachuonyo and Bungoma Districts on spatial distribution of agro-dealers empirical study on the weather risk coping strategy for households in rural Kenya for JICA.

Sept 2013: Consultancy to undertake research on resilience and vulnerability in the ASALs of Kenya for the last ten years for Concern Worldwide.

Dec 2002 – January 2003: Emergency Drought Preparedness Programme Evaluation of 16 Projects Spread over 9 Districts mostly in Northern Kenya, Funded by ECHO and managed by CORDAID and its partners.

August 2008: Basic data collection and situational analysis in Nyando and Homa Bay Districts including Kisumu area(Agriculture/livestock, Fishery, Health and Medical Care (including HIV/AIDS), Education and Infrastructure) as part of the Development Study for Regional Development Programme for JICA.

October 2005: Evaluation of results, effects and impacts of Terre des Hommes Netherlands (TdHNL) and her project partners in Turkana District in the provision of health, education and basic needs and services in the target areas in the period from 1994 – 2005.

June 2003: End of Project Evaluation for the Children Behind Project – Support for Children Affected by AIDS (CABA) in Rachuonyo and Migori Districts in Kenya for Catholic Relief Services.

2001: Costing and packaging of services for the pilot hospital waiver schemes for the Ministry of Health, Kenya, a project funded by World Bank.

Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development

2011 – to – date: Enhancing sustainability of tea systems by training of farmer field school Facilitators and supporting implementation process in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.

2009 – June 2012: The Scalability of Sustainable Tea Value Chain in Kenya funded by Dutch Embassy in Kenya.

2002 – 2005: Running and co-ordinating farmer field schools on Integrated Nutrient Management in Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia in collaboration with LEI-Wageningen University.

Local Governance

2006 – 2009: Support to Decentralization Programme, Technical Assistance to Decentralization in Uganda for the European Union, 2007. The project lasted for 36 months.

August – Sept 2006: Local Level Service Delivery, Decentralization and Governance, Comparative study for three east African countries for JICA.
